Hello everyone! My name is Hassan Berry, and I will be acting as Vice President for the Wayne State University Chapter of Remission Detroit. As vice president, I will be taking the lead on fundraising and organizational events to support Remission Detroit’s mission. Working at free health clinics, I have seen how socioeconomic status can affect health outcomes, especially those with chronic conditions like cancer. As part of Remission Detroit’s board, I would like to directly address these disparities by advocating for their needs.

Hey everyone, I’m Naveed Salam, and I’m thrilled to be the Secretary for the Wayne State University Chapter of Remission Detroit. As secretary, I’ll be responsible for reaching out and connecting to other students and other student organizations while making sure the rest of the Remission Detroit board is connected and stays on task. Currently, I’m an undergraduate student at Wayne State University, majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish. In the future, I hope to become a physician who can help everyone, including those who are intimidated by the American healthcare system. As a navigator at the Karmanos Cancer Institute, I directly interact with people fighting cancer and see firsthand how much they are faced with. By being a part of Remission Detroit, I hope to make the battle against cancer easier for everyone.

Hello, my name is Mahmoud Ismail, and I am excited to serve as the Director of Administration for the Wayne State University Chapter of Remission Detroit. In this role, I will be working closely with our campus and community members by organizing events, documenting their impact, and assisting the President with logistics to ensure our initiatives are successful and inclusive. I am committed to supporting Remission Detroit’s mission by ensuring our events and initiatives run smoothly, increasing awareness of our goal, and rallying support across campus.  Hello everyone! My name is Mona Alashkar, and I am so excited to be the Director of Finance with the Wayne State University Chapter of Remission Detroit. As the Director of Finance, I have the privilege of ensuring we have the funds necessary to continue and thrive as a non-profit. In doing so, we will be able to continue to help those who are battling one of the hardest diseases, cancer. Cancer is a mentally and physically exhausting disease, so with that, our goal is to help in any way possible to advocate for patients.
